Bitcoin is saving Venezuela: Naomi Brockwell on Stossel, FBN

Posted on by in Venezuela

I went on the Stossel Show last year with Reason producer Jim Epstein, to talk about how Bitcoin is changing people’s lives in Venezuela.

There, people are starving and looking for ways to survive.
Bitcoin has been a life-saver for some of these people, and we explain how.

Stossel also makes fun of my music video:
John: Aren’t you embarrassed?
Me: That’s not the cheesiest video I’ve made, actually… 😳

I still don't have the first clue how to acquire bitcoins, how to receive and spend them, etc.. I can see that people use cell phones for it somehow, for some reason. I have no idea if it's an app, one of several possible, or a web site you go to. I have no idea what you are supposed to type into your app, what buttons to click, etc.. Does the merchant initiate, or the buyer? The few times I've tried to address this ignorance, I've run into an insanely complex wall of technobabble esoterica I have no clue how to navigate. I suspect there is a business opportunity here for someone who can make this something accessible to people toying with alzheimer's, and for the rest of us who are not nerds in the top 25%.
